Tattooing is not that complicated

Hand poking is a more intimate, gentle and intuitive way to mark the skin. With a bit of patience and handy skills anyone can do it. Whether you want to work as an artist or just tattoo for fun, this workshop is a good place to start. Once we learn the basics it’s up to you how far you want to take it. There is so much more to be discovered about this art!

The workshop is for total beginners

Well, I cannot teach you everything about tattoos during the 4h course. But I’ll make sure you have a solid base and you can confidently practice on your own.
Handpoking is a much safer process than machine tattooing. Tattooing by the dot means you have easier control and it heals much faster too!
The good part: most of the equipment can be bought in a supermarket or a pharmacy. Once we understand skin layers, equipment use, how to create a sanitary environment and of course the hand-poking technique, nothing should hold you back.

No worries tho, we are going to practice on fake skin and I’m here to answer all your questions after the workshop.

Emotional Care

Trust is a crucial part of a tattoo. You have to understand consent, how to make someone feel seen, heard and supported throughout the session. It’s not complicated, just about being a decent person - but as body workers, we have to understand respect and
safe spaces.
If the magic is right, we can turn the physical (and emotional) discomfort into a healing experience. A real empowering one. Wonder why they say tattoos are addictive? We’ll talk about that too.

About me

I'm a self taught tattoo artist with 6 years of experience. Making tattoos both with hand and machine, freehanding them whenever I can. I consider tattooing as a primal and honestly quite magical form of self expression. It helped me shape my identity and relationship with myself - definitely for the better.

I'm based in Berlin, but I often travel to Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Budapest and other cities.

The workshop has 4 parts:

  • anatomy of skin, proper depth and the mistakes to avoid. We’ll learn about needles too, so you can choose your appropriate equipment based on your design and style

  • how to build trust and emotionally support the guest through the session, while maintaining professional boundaries

  • together we’ll go through a step-by-step routine on how to create a sanitary workstation. This way you can create a safe environment wherever you like, at home or in a studio.

  • we’ll practice the poking skills on a rubber sheet similar to skin. I will give you personal guidance and tips and tricks for a nice line, shading and filling.

The hand poke starter kit includes:

• 10 needles

• 10 ink holder cups and spatulas

• small bottle of tattoo ink

• stencil paper and transfer gel

• green soap spray
